Technology Source: Apple IBooks App

 This is free from Apples’ ITunes App Store.  The IBooks app can place traditional text on screen in various text sizes and with different contrast level to promote easy viewing.  This App can read the entire book for you as well as assist your reading along the way.  Features of these devices offer support for struggling readers.  A few mentioned in the book that are useful for students with special needs are the Speak Selection Feature, Define Option, Multitouch Textbooks, and IBook’s Author.

Using Portfolios and E-Portfolios

Authentic Assessment- includes portfolio assessments and e-portfolios.

With the portfolio assessment strategy it allows students to collect artifacts or documents that demonstrates the learning outcomes they have achieved.  This allows students to create power point collections of their world to e-portfolios created via online portfolio websites. 

Your instructional objectives identify very specific criteria and methods for measuring student success.  Your assessment should be specifically designed to determine whether those objectives have been achieved. Your students’ mastery of your instructional objectives is the most significant evolution of your design. Student achievement combined with results from other summative feedback efforts will give you the information you need to make future improvements to your design.
